About Jared
Jared Brandon is a guitarist, educator, and creative professional dedicated to helping students develop confidence, technique, and artistic identity through the guitar. He began playing at the age of four and began his teaching career at Brandon Guitar Studio (Lubbock, TX) in 2007, working with students across all ages and styles. Now he operates his creative studio in Southwest Florida.
Jared has taught electric guitar for Texas Tech University and continues to mentor a growing global community through his YouTube channel and Instagram, where he shares gear reviews, lessons, performances, and creative insights. His teaching style blends humor, patience, and structure, encouraging students to grow not just as guitarists but as musicians and creators.
Over two decades of performing, Jared has explored a wide variety of genres, including progressive and classic rock, country, classical, jazz, and praise & worship. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lubbock Christian University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. His studies have included masterclasses and workshops with Christopher Parkening, Eric Johnson, Trace Bundy, Johnny Hiland, Gary Hoey, and Plini, as well as private mentorships with Andy Timmons, Aaron Marshall (Intervals), and Nicholas Veinoglou.
Beyond teaching, Jared channels his creativity into videography, audio engineering, and content creation, collaborating with artists and producing media through his growing creative brand, Plant Based Riffs. His mission is simple: to make learning music meaningful, modern, and inspiring… one riff at a time.
